Nikola Zsurikova is a young and very motivated artist with lot of creativity. She has a great eye for detail and everything art related. Her style is believed to be special in many ways:
“I love to catch the reality with my eyes and to apply to my canvas, but not just the reality,
i use to make combinations of realism and abstraction. I love the contrast and the game with colours.”
She was born and grew up in Bratislava/Slovakia in 1987 – where before she could walk she was already painting!
In 1993 – 2001 she went to Saint Vincent de Paul and Saint Cecil elementary school of art, Bratislava, Slovakia where she even won an international competition which involved designing a postcard with the theme, “The Holy Trinity” which got sent to the Vatican in Italy.

In 2001 – 2005 Nikola was successfully accepted on School of applied arts, Josef Vydra, Bratislava, Slovakia where she was studying restoration of art objects, which range from wood to gypsum. Her time at Joseph Vydra was very useful and she progressed her skills in painting and many technical techniques. She worked with many materials and learned the technology of restoring colours and pigments. Nikola also learned the basics of photography as well.

After graduation Nikola was successfully accepted on Slovak Technic, University of architecture, Bratislava, Slovakia, from 2005 – 2006 to study architecture and urban landscaping. Although Nikoa loves architecture she found it far to technical and less artistic, as a result, she decided to discontinue her studies there.

In 2007 – 2008 she went on to study at the University Of Central Europe, Skalica, Slovakia. Here she studied International relations and Diplomacy.

Budapest, Hungry: Nikola worked in the PR department for a few brands such as Ed Hardy, Paco Chicano by Christian Audigier, Style & Butler and for an entertainment company – but mainly focusing on her art life where she had the opportunity to do exhibitions in Budapest and Paris but unfortunately she didn’t have enough funds to realise it.

At present, Nikoa lives in Paris, France and is working on new art projects which will have International Utilization.

Nikola is looking for any investors to help fund the materials needed to creative her art works. If you are interested please contact her using the contact details below.

Olivia’s Biography

Ever since Olivia was a little girl, she loved to create, using any medium available – even things her parents would throw away. As Olivia got older, that desire to create grew with further.

At 14 years old, Olivia realised her love for drawing:

“I was on an airplane headed for Texas and bought a few fashion magazines to read during the flight. I started nonchalantly sketching a model from a Chanel ad onto a page from my journal. After finishing it, I was surprised to see that it actually looked somewhat like the photo. I enjoyed drawing it so much that I was drawing the entire flight. That’s when I knew art was something I wanted to do as a hobby.”

Olivia carried on drawing portraits for a few years until eventually turning to painting. The first painting was one of an actress. It was painted in acrylic paint on a small canvas and although Olivia was delving into unknown territory, painting inspired her to move her creativity in a new direction. Gradually she started to explore other mediums such as coloured pencil , pastels and oil being her prefered medium to paint with.

Italy: Olivia’s favourite painting ground. Her family are Italian-immigrants from Sicily and she has been brought up to be proud of her heritage. Olivia considers Italy to have a very strong influence in her inspiration to art, but Olivia’s passion for drawing stems from capturing the unique looks of different people and the emotion in peoples eyes.

Artist Statement

For as long as Andy can remember he has been obsessed with portraying invisible worlds, hidden symbolism and universal truths through art laced with meaning. To the outsider his paintings and drawings often appear dark and disturbing, often vulgar or needlessly sexual. However the merest scratching of the metaphorical surface reveals spiritual ideas and old philosophies, the portrayal of which has been forgotten by most due to the rise of modernism and what it did to the collective conscience of the human race.

Primarily inspired by contemporary art from Asia and Japan along with comic and surreal art in the west. Jumping between traditional materials and digital painting methods Andy creates a wide variety of work in differing styles.

Studying life in great detail, he takes the tiniest stimulus and explores it through meditation until whatever hidden world it has created is captured as accurately as he can manage. Andy seldom shares the meaning behind his art, believing art to be a very personal thing, only those closest to him ever get any idea of what he’s thinking. He also likes to poke fun at aspects of art he does not like, often in a very subtle way within his work.

Lorna Phillips Background Information

I was born in the UK but raised in South Africa and both the changing political climate of South Africa and the vibrancy of London’ s easily accessible live music and theatre scenes have benefited me and influenced the work I have produced, culminating in a blending of cultures and experiences.

I won several competitions as a younger artist and my work was displayed all over South Africa as part of travelling exhibitions. I also studied graphic design in South Africa and worked with photographers and as art director of magazines in the news, features, lifestyle and travel markets.

I returned to the UK about 9 years ago and have been working as an art editor in London publishing houses and, while continuing my creative process during this period, I now dedicate my time to it in full and have over the last few years produced a portfolio of one-off pieces of fine art, with a number of additional projects currently in progress.

I mainly produce bespoke fine art pieces in oils, which have always generally been my medium of choice, though I also have some mixed media collage pieces with paper, acrylic, varnish and oils.

I have been focusing on portraits most recently, using my own photographs or ones taken by friends, with their permission. I manipulate the colour and composition of the original images to portray a new, more personal, meaning without compromising the original concept of the image, endeavouring to capture the relationship between a moment caught instantly in time and my interpretation of that moment developed with a brush over a period of time, such that the subjects are fluid in perception once on canvas.

All of my work is based on my fascination with light: the effects of colour flares in low light and reflections on different surfaces in changing weather and light conditions. Each work has a personal meaning to me, which may or may not be obvious on its completion. As the work evolves on the canvas, so does my meaning and the application of it.

About Simon

My artwork has been motivated by over twelve years experience in employment as a telephone sales representative and is inspired by a perception of how corporate space has become commoditized within call centre workplaces. The artworks investigates how employees react to this perceived objectification through assimilating or appropriating objects within their work environment.

The artworks are created by manipulating and appropriating imagery, objects and general processes commonly associated with office-based work. The objects used for my artwork includes office partitioning, appliances, stationery and gadgets, whilst the photographic images I have generated also frequently refer to the general modular design plan of the call centre itself. The works establish and develops practicable artistic modes of inquiry, ones compatible with my own working terms of employment as a call center agent. Thus the artworks are frequently conceived in, experimented with and in some cases resolved from this workplace setting. The intention behind working in this way was to shift aspects of my artistic practice outside the conventional realm of a studio setting and relocate it firmly within the codes, conventions, expectations and environment of the companies facilitating my employment as a telesales representative.

The premise for such an investigation starts from the idea that company time and resources can become misused, reenergized and translated as an expressive means for communicating human emotion and creating art. It is my assertion that this act may be viewed as a humanizing impulse or form of resistance against what is arguably described as a dehumanizing and alienating workplace.

My artworks investigate spatial, material, digital and conceptual methods of interpreting call center workplaces. My research has used repetition, automation and homogeneity as an expressive means for creating art. As my artworks attest, these creative methods articulate a degree of dehumanization and methodical order that I perceive to be integral to the call center environment. The research develops a highly formal range of visual material that is approached with a deliberately fetishistic attention to detail. It is a body of work that investigates the culture of the contemporary call centre and navigates the processes of workplace assimilation and appropriation.

Artist Statement

Through the study of botanical sources of inspiration, James’s work exists as pieces of collected, abstracted, surreal and almost alien piece of sculptural glass. Derived from many different points of reference, such as twisting vines and microscopic pollen, James explores form, space, material and texture, using only the purity of transparent glass and light.

James’s work to date has been described as ‘baroque’* and at the same time, through the non-existent use of color, it is perfectly at home within the minimal Bauhausian architectural cityscape that we exist in. Through his work he attempts to communicate his feelings towards the material and show a desire to reflect the beauty of the minimal age we live in, whilst at the same time, James adds a flourish of organic surrealism.

Artist Biography

About the Artist, –
Born in the UK and initially a studio potter for 10 years, James has only been working in glass for approximately 4 years. Having graduated from the Royal College of Art in London, with an MA in Applied Arts, he is currently managing to make a living designing and making bespoke lighting in London, Europe and the US, for corporate and private clients.
Recent exhibtions include the Bombay Sapphire Prize 2008, Milan, Design Basel 2008, Switzerland, Design Miami, Florida, 2008, Design Art London, 2008 and Verre Contemporain I Londres at Perimeter Edition Ltd, Paris, France.
